Privacy Policy

Pageant Post ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The Service is operated from Tennessee, United States.

From Directors: name, email address, password (hashed), pageant content you upload (logos, photos, descriptions), and, before payouts, tax identification (SSN or EIN), legal name, and mailing address.

From Voters: email address (captured at checkout), payment information (handled entirely by Stripe, we do not store card numbers), IP address, browser user agent, and approximate location (country).

From everyone: basic usage data (pages visited, timestamps) for diagnostics.

• To operate the Service: display pageants, process vote purchases, send receipts.
• To prevent fraud and resolve disputes (e.g., responding to chargebacks).
• To comply with legal obligations such as IRS 1099-K reporting for directors.
• To improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

We rely on these vendors to operate the Service:

• Stripe processes all payments and sends transactional emails (receipts, refund confirmations).
• Resend sends transactional emails to directors (signup confirmation, password reset).
• Digital Ocean hosts the Service infrastructure and database.
• Cloudflare provides DNS, DDoS protection, and content delivery.

Each vendor processes only the data necessary to provide their service.

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies (e.g., for session management and CSRF protection). We also use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (pages visited, approximate location, and device type), which sets its own analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell personal information.

Many pageant contestants are minors. We require the Director uploading content to attest that they have parental or guardian consent for the contestant's name and photograph to be displayed publicly. If you believe content has been uploaded without consent, contact [email protected] and we will remove it promptly.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and Tennessee Information Protection Act (TIPA), you have the right to:

• Know what personal data we hold about you.
• Request a copy of that data.
• Request deletion of that data, subject to legal retention requirements (e.g., payment records for tax law).
• Opt out of the sale of personal data. We do not sell personal data, so this is automatic.

We retain payment records for at least seven years to comply with tax and financial regulations. Director accounts and pageant content are retained until the Director closes the account, at which point we will delete or anonymize the data within 90 days, except for records we are legally required to keep.

We use industry standard practices (TLS encryption in transit, encrypted at rest where applicable, secure password hashing) to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we work to follow best practices.

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Photos of minors who are pageant contestants are uploaded by Directors with parental consent (see Section 6).

The Service is intended only for U.S. residents at this time. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., we cannot guarantee the Service will function or meet your local data protection requirements.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
